On Tuesday 22nd September 2015 the Y5 and Y6 Football team played a match against Langrish Primary School in the first round of The Hampshire Cup. It was an exiting match and Swanmore got off to a brilliant start with Finn scoring a great goal to put Swanmore in the lead. Langrish caught up with two good goals to put them in the lead at half time.
In the second half Finn scored another great goal making it equal. Next Will scored a amazing goal from outside the box going in the bottom right hand corner. Swanmore made a little mistake in defence which led to them equalising. Then five minutes later Swanmore scored a late winner which won the game 4-3.
Recently the A and B football teams took part in the annual Rally. This is a tournament where all the local schools meet together and compete for the shield.
After completing the league stages of the competition we were pleased to find out that both the A and B teams were through to their finals. The B team played first against Bishops Waltham Junior School. After a hard fought game against tough opponents we lost 1-0, the only defeat of the afternoon for the B team.
Next came the A team final against Wickham. In the league stages we had lost 2-1 to Wickham so we knew that a very difficult match was waiting for us. Thanks to superb teamwork, dogged defending and two well taken goals we won 2-0.
Well done to all the boys for playing with skill, passion and good sportsmanship.
On the 25th of June it was World Sports Day. Swanmore Primary played their part by doing fun sports on the field. This was also part of their Olympics celebrations, there were lots of events like the sack race, assault course and many others.Every one took part and enjoyed themselves. At the end of the day Mr Paterson let everyone have extra playtime!
We set off to St. Johns school to take part in the annual District Field events for Year 5 and 6. This year Swanmore had to choose the team from just Y5 – it would mean some Y5s competing against big Y6s! There were 5 other schools there. Our team competed in 4 events – speed bounce, vortex throw, standing long jump and rounders ball throw.
Although it was a miserable day (weather) we enjoyed taking part and were glad the event wasn’t cancelled.
Our final position was 6th, with Droxford winning the trophy.
5 of our team achieved certificates…
Bronze – Nick (speed bounce), Harry (long jump), Elana (speed bounce), Oliver P (speed bounce)
Gold – Toby (speed bounce)
Overall, we were pleased with our team performance but wished we had some Y6s to help us! Next year we will try again and maybe have more luck.
On Wednesday 14th, Swanmore primary were the hosts of the Netball rally 2012. The A team astounded everyone with their winning streak against Bishops Waltham Juniors, Curdridge and Saint Johns!
Meanwhile the B team were battling their way to the final!
Both the A Team and the B team reached the final.Unfortunately the B team lost against Curdridge in a close fought match. However it was VICTORY for the A team, they won 4-2 against Curdridge, thanks to Tom who scored the winning goals!!
We would like to thank Mrs Collins and Mrs Thompson for coaching us!!
On Thursday 23rd February, Swanmore travelled to Droxford School for a Netball match. The game started with the B team with Daisy as captain. Swanmore had a good start and ended the first quater winning 5-0. From then on the game only got better for Swanmore. By the end of the 4th quater, Swanmore had won 17-1! Victory once again!!! Next up was the A team with Connie as captain, and it got off to a lead for Droxford who were 2-0 up after the first quarter. By the end of the second quater, Swanmore had improved their game and were winning 4-2. At the end of the 4 quaters, Swanmore had won again, 9-5! It was a really good game and all of the A & B team would like to thank Mrs Collins and Mrs Thompson for leading us to VICTORY!!! Made by Connie and Laura Y6D
On Tuesday afternoon both Year 1 classes walked from school to the Tennis Club on Vicarage Lane. We watched a fantastic match between Mrs Penrose and Alex (the coach) before getting chance to have a go ourselves. We played a game called Splash and Quack, then practised our forehand and backhand. Well done to all the children who behaved wonderfully and a huge ‘thank you’ to the tennis club members and parents who helped us during the trip. It was great fun!
On Wednesday 29th June we travelled to Winchester Sports Stadium for our Personal Best festival.

As you can see we had a great time and we showed a lot of determination to beat our last score. Some of the events included standing long jump with a clear win by Matthew with 1 metre 66. Next we went to the inspiration station and we had to write on a piece of paper about what the 2012 olympic had inspired us to do.
After that we got to hold the 2012 olympic torch. Mr Cook took a picture of all of us. Next we went to a lady called Steph Twell who won an Olympic bronze medal. After that we went to speed bounce Ewan and Matthew won with 43 bounces in 20 seconds. Then we had lunch.
Then we went to the the hop and a sprint and tim won with 6.59 seconds. Next was the shuttle run which was won by Ewan with a time of 19.56.
Next we moved on to target throw wich was one by Chris who scored 23 points. Then we did our final event of the day, chest push which was won by Bill with a score of 7 metres 30.
We would like to thank Mr Cook for getting us there.
